During the preceding two months (June and July of kiremt 2020), the rainfall started at normal condition over western parts of the country as anticipated. It is clear that NAM has predicated fairly wide spread rain showers across the seasonal rain benefiting areas of the country with heavy falls at places. In line with this, most parts of Kiremt rain benefiting areas had received normal to above normal rainfall. In addition, heavy fall that resulted flash flood and river over flow was recorded.
In the coming two months (August and September 2020), the current equatorial SST over eastern and central parts is under neutral condition and is anticipated to continue till northern hemisphere summer fall with 50-52% chance of La Niña during the start of winter. Hence, normal to above normal rainfall is anticipated to prevail across most parts of the seasonal rain benefiting areas of the country with occasional heavy falls.
